| carmond's Full Review: Hewlett Packard PSC 500 Inkjet Multifunction Print... |
First of all, to anyone considering a multifunction product, let me relate my experience. When I got my HP PSC 500, the scanner worked, but the printer did not. I called HP customer support and they swapped it out for a refurbished one. (They paid for all of the shipping.) On the one I received in exchange, the printer worked this time, but the scanner did not. I called HP again and they once again replaced it at their expense. This replacement works fine, although it has some dust under the scanner glass which would cost me to have fixed. That said, let me tell you more about the unit itself.
As a printer, it works fine. It prints at a decent speed with good quality. The ink cartridges seem to last a long time.
The copier function also works great. With the touch of one button, it will make a decent copy. You can also use the menu to make photo copies. This is not hard once you learn how to do it. If you use the copier for a specific media (for example, photos), you can set it as the default setting saving you some time.
The scanner is decent, but is a little slow and quality is lacking. When I scan in a photo, then print it on photo paper, the quality is not as good as using the copy function. However, since the copy function copies the entire page, it is not always the best option.
Overall, this is a decent product, but if I could go back I would probably buy an Epson scanner and printer.
