Pros:Clear instructions. Good Fit
Cons:None
The Bottom Line: Makes installing a new car stereo into your car easy. More importantly, allows you to go back to a stock installation without damaging any of your car's wiring.
Whether you are a professional car audio installer, or a do it yourselfer, the ultimate goal in car audio installation is to make sure that your install leaves the car in as good a shape as it was before you began playing with the wiring. This is where this power harness comes into play.
Most manufacturers run custom cabling for the car stereo, and when comes time for you to install a new Head Unit in the car you have two choices:
1. Start splicing into the stock harness leaving nothing but carnage, and frayed wires.
2. Get a power adapter (like this one) that converts the proprietary wiring scheme of the manufacturer into the standard wires used by most aftermarket audio equipment manufacturers.
The American International package comes with the harness and an instruction sheet. The harness has a plug at one end, which fits nice and snug into the factory plug that used to plug into your OEM head unit. The other end of the harness exposes loose wires that you will then connect to the appropriate loose wires on the new head unit. All you need to do is match up the colors with the head unit's harness.
The instruction sheet that comes with the harness outlines all of the wires that are exposed, their color, and their position on the harness (for those of us that are color blind).
The best part about using a harness like this, is that whenever you need to go back to your stock stereo, all you need to do is unplug the harness and plug the factory harness back into the old head unit. No cutting, or any other hassle.
