Simulation my Butt Expanded!

Written: Jan 27 '01 (Updated Jan 27 '01)
Pros:Many new and exciting objects, skins, floors, and walls. Good for months of exciting gameplay.
Cons:choppy even if your running off a pentium III processer. No Interaction between neighborhoods.
The Bottom Line: If you don't have this game buy it and you'll see why I'm so enthusiastic.

**************************Overview**************************

I bought The Sims around the beginning of October and fell in love with it. Then, about a month ago I realized that I was bored of The Sims. And then I discovered that Maxis had come out with an expansion pack for The Sims called The Sims Livin’ Large. As soon as I could rush out to the store, I bought Livin’ Large expansion pack and installed it without a hitch. Anxiously I put the game in and I couldn’t believe how many new items Livin’ Large had added to The Sims. I just couldn’t get enough of this new phenomenon; I had never seen anything like it. The character’s goofy talking and new “phrases” while engaging in a conversation with other characters was hilarious. This game has been a common everyday activity in my life and I’m sure if you purchase it, it will be in your life too.
**************************Reminder***************************
!!! This is an expansion pack and requires the original game to play !!!
!!! You’d be amazed how many people do not know that !!!
**************************New Items**************************

Just a few of the game enhancing new items and careers that the Livin’ Large expansion pack gives to the original game are: 5 new careers that provide you with 50 new jobs including the slacker, journalist, paranormal, Hacker, and musician categories, 5 new neighborhoods with 10 lots each making it possible to build 50 homes, a robot maid to do all those annoying chores around the house, new windows, new doors, out of 125 new items some of the most interesting are a home chemistry lab, a magic lamp that can be cleaned and holds a secret inside, a vibrating heart bed, an electric guitar, and a crystal ball. Be sure to buy the game to discover many more interesting items in the expansion pack.

***************************Starting Off************************

In the Livin’ Large expansion pack, the start off is pretty much the same as in the regular game except you have many more choices in the wall coverings, floor coverings, and object for your sim to interact with. You also have many more skins to choose when you are picking a sim to control.
****************************Sound***************************

The sound effects in this game are choreographed and timed perfectly with the movement of the characters in the game and fit the actions for instance, if a person is getting proposed to, wedding music will be played and if a sim is telling a joke to another sim, there “bibble babble” talking will reflect that of a person telling a rhyme or joke. Even when you are in building or buying mode of the game, you will inspirational classical piano music that just makes you want to be creative.

**************************Graphics***************************

No graphical change has been made between the regular Sims and the Livin’ Large expansion pack, they are still just as great even though the smoothness has been mad a little choppy even when running a Pentium III Processor because of the extra lots added to the game and all the extra objects and items added in the Livin’ Large expansion pack.
All around, I am still impressed with the superb graphics.

**************************In-Game Play************************

If you have something else to do the day you buy and install Livin’ Large, you might as well cancel because you’re eyes will be glued to the computer screen just as mine were the day I bought it. It’s absolutely amusing to watch your sim walk around and chat with his/her neighbors as they attempt to make friends and climb their way up the career ladder with salaries that tend to be extremely rewarding at the top.

***************************Summary***************************

Altogether, all the other simulation games out there don’t even come close to The Sims and probably never will if it continues to grow as much as it has in the past year.
I have been extremely pleased with the money spent on these two games and will never feel guilty that I used that money for this game instead of something else. Just so everyone knows, I talked to one of my friends that had a bootleg copy of the original Sims game and there is absolutely no way to properly install and run the Livin’ Large expansion pack without a true game and serial number to put in when you install it, it simply wont work.
Man you people from Maxis really are ahead of the game!
