Pros: Great content from well-known providers on your PDA!
Cons: Amount of space taken up is a bit hefty; increased sync time (few secs)
The Bottom Line: Great content, increased sync time is well worth it! No other provider like this on the Web!

Avantgo's software has made my Handspring Visor a lot more powerful. Basically, what Avantgo does is provide you offline content off the web that you can view at any time. Avantgo is available for a variety of devices, including PalmOS, WinCE, PocketPC, and WAP (web-enabled phones) devices.
How do I get Avantgo?
Well, the first thing you do is go to http://www.avantgo.com and sign up for their FREE service. Then you follow the on-screen instructions and download their free software. Its a couple of MB in size, so on a 56K modem you should be done in a few minutes. Next, you dial into your ISP and sync your PDA with your PC. Avantgo will begin to install on your PDA.
What kind of content can I get from Avantgo?
You can basically get anything you like onto your PDA these days. My favorite Avantgo "channel" is my Yahoo! account. To get this, you need to goto http://my.yahoo.com and sign up for a free Yahoo! account (if you have email thru Yahoo!, you already have this set up). Anyway, once you have your Yahoo! account set up, you can pick "Yahoo!" from the channel list on Avantgo.com - the next time you've dialed into your ISP and decide to "sync" you will get cool Yahoo! features such as News, Weather, sports, horoscopes, stock quotes, etc. Microsoft's MSN Mobile channel is also offered for those of you who are into that. Both are top-notch in my epinion :)
My other favorites include Hollywood.com (movie showtimes) and MotleyFool (stock market news). USAToday is pretty good as well.
Pros and Cons
The syncing process does get longer once you add Avantgo to your PDA but I think that the content that you get in return is well worth the few extra seconds, especially if you don't have wireless internet access on your PDA!
