Pros: Fantastic sound. Compact design.
Included dual alarm function. Sleep timer. Built in Sub-woofer.
Cons: Am reception is poor, cannot add external am antenna. Remote is not very sensitive.
The Bottom Line: For less than half the price of a Bose Wave radio you can fill your living room, den or bedroom with premium sound. You can't go wrong with this product.

I received my Cambridge Soundworks Model 88CD via UPS and the first thing I noticed while I unpacked the unit was it's solid weight. It just felt as if I was holding something that was well made. After setting it up and reading the quick start instructions I turned it on. I was nearly floored by the clear heart thumping bass that this wonderfully constructed unit puts out. The lows mixed with the clean highs to produce a velvety smooth sound. Man, I was in heaven. The FM reception with the included antenna pulled in all the stations that I was used to receiving with my $650 huge, space hogging stereo. I live in a one bedroom apartment and the Model 88CD fits nicely in a corner of my living room where it fills the room with clear non distortion music.
However I am a fan of all night talk shows on the AM band and I can say I will not be listening to this unit at night. The AM portion of the receiver is not sensitive at all. Turning the unit to face different directions did not help at all. But since I have different radios for different applications it does not bother me too much. Also you can't add an external AM antenna to this unit.
Another short coming of this unit is the remote. Sometimes you have to push the buttons more than once to get the radio to respond. It does not seem to be very sensitive.
But for room filling, crystal clear, heart pounding, distortion free music from either the FM or the built in CD you cannot go wrong with this unit. Less than half the price of the Bose Wave radio/CD to boot.
