Onespirit.com-A Never Ending Headache From A Site Providing "Spirit"
by Suzer | Aug 27 '02
Onespiritcom is a book club dealing with the mind, body and spirit. I was thrilled to find an offer for this book club, and enthusiastically joined. Not only do they offer books, but also videos, cassettes, CDs, and other merchandise. I love this...

Feeling your pain. (Reply to this comment)

I have had bad luck with various "club" type deals like this before.

I really hope they resolve this, Suz.

A book club that is dedicated to spiritual well being and all of that positive stuff should have a more customer friendly response system, huh?

You wrote a very nice review, Suzi. Hope that this get resolved for you without too much more hassle on your part. :(

Thanks MT. I hope they resolve it too. I don't
like having a mysterious outstanding balance.

My experience was similar. (Reply to this comment)

I would decline a featured selection on the day it arrived in the mail (couldn't get them to stop sending snail-mail) by going to the web site. The site clearly accepted that the featured selection was declined. And then it (book) showed up anyway. Grrrr! Mysterious charges appeared on my invoice, that didn't seem to correspond to anything. I unsubscribed a year ago, and I still get junk mail from them.

For what it is worth, I had problems with some other book clubs in the same "family" of clubs. Now, I keep a wish list, and go to Amazon, Powell's, or 1Bookstreet when I have enough to get free shipping.

I thought it was just me! I know that SOMETIMES it took me two or three days to go online to "decline" my SELECTIONS (now there are TWO automatic selections, how tricky is that!) but I was still within their alleged 10-day limit, but I still got shipments (at least three) and then they didn't even want to reimburse me returning the books TO them. Postman told me I could just write "refused" on them and I did that once, but then Customer Service said that way they never got a record of getting it and I had no proof I sent it back, so that was a no-no. So as much as I drool over their catalogs, I STILL have an outstanding balance (and an unopened box of SOMETHING) that I have not gotten around to returning to them, unsure how much I'm willing to spend on returning the undesired item to get the charge taken off! Too bad I didn't read your warning first, huh? Anyway, good review, and I think you did a pretty good job explaining it fairly. Maybe you could have included more detail about what kinds of authors were usually presented, and more of the price ranges and the specials and stuff, but overall, you at least gave enough info to keep this from just being a rant against the customer service idiots! Good job!

Nothing From Them In Quite Awhile (Reply to this comment)

I think I finally got it through their thick skulls covering pea brains that I *really* wasn't interested in the widdle-waddle they kept sending to me!

Ciao!
