| kraesmom's Full Review: Ovation Optical Navigator Mouse 4 Btn (MPN-19K200... |
I've been used to using my trusty old Mouseman Wheel, but after it died, I went searching for a reasonably-priced alternative. I found the IBM Optical Navigator mouse to be similar in shape to my old Logitech mouse, and I couldn't argue that the $19.99 sale price wasn't appealing, so I bought it. It installed easily on my Win XP Pro system, using the PS2 adaptor (this mouse is USB, but comes with the adaptor, which I chose to use because I only have one USB port open, and I use it occasionally for other peripherials, like my daughter's camera). I then started to actually USE the mouse. OUCH! The shape just isn't right, and the mouse itself is too thick, making one's hand bend at a very unnatural angle, hovering above the desk, rather than resting on the edge. I'll admit that I have "issues" with my mousing hand (as do MANY people who use computers for long periods at a time), but even if I didn't before, I certainly would after using this mouse for any length of time. I'm planning to return this model tomorrow, and see if I can find a more comfortable model elsewhere, even if I have to pay a bit more to get it.
