Pros: Good price, easy install. Digital out.
Cons: Poor Capture, not Win2K compatible.
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for simple MP3 playback in surround sound in Win 9x, can't beat the price. However if you want DVD playback, audio capture, or use Win2k, keep looking.

| nerdcage's Full Review: Guillemot Maxi Sound Fortissimo |
I picked up a set of 3D surround sound speakers with sub woofer. The only thing left to get was the sound card to support it. I wasn't looking to spend a ton of money, and this card fit the bill. Four months later, I'm looking for a new card.
It sounds great. The surround sound is amazing. Plus it comes with a neat little MIDI playing program with an animated drum set that lights as each drum is hit... but I digress.
I have a dual boot on my system; Win2K and 98. Sadly even with the updated drivers I cannot get the rear speakers to work in 2k. Since 2k is my primary OS, this is a big disappointment.
DVD playback. On about 75% of my DVDs during playback the audio significantly lags behind the video as the movie plays. Roughly every 2 chapters I have to pause and un-pause the DVD to allow it to reset.
Finally, capture. I use my ATI All-In-Wonder to do alot of video capturing. Ever since installing this card I've had problems with the audio lagging behind on the MPEG clips. By the end of a 30-minute clip, the audio will be off by about a second or two. Not terrible, but lip sync is noticeably affected.
Basically this card is a collection of minor annoyances. I'd be able to overlook any one of them, but all of them put together have finally sent me searching for a new card. Any Recommendations?
