Pros:it's inexpensive, it has no overpowering odors, it's easy to use, and it works!
Cons:They don't seem to sell it in 15 gallon buckets!
The Bottom Line: When it comes to cleaners, Oxi-Clean is one that every house should have.
I hated cleaning until I found Oxi-Clean. I remember the first time I saw it on TV. I wanted to order it, but you know none of those TV products *really* work. Well, I was wrong! I was in my local Sam's Club trying to find something to get pet stains out of my carpet when I saw a box of Orange Glo cleaning products. In that box was a small tub of Oxi-Clean. I took it home and put it to the test!
Pet stains. Well, if you have pets, I don't even have to bother going into detail about what a pain these are and how nothing seems to work. Our dog had taken it upon herself to designate the corner of our dining room as her *special spot*. Unfortunately, we didn't know about this until a mysterious odor showed up, then we found the lovely *yellow* carpet in the corner. We used every cleaning agent imaginable. So how did Oxi-Clean do? Well, it got all of the *yellow* out and the odor was gone too. It cleaned so well though, that it led us to another task...
Carpets. We decided to see what kind of job it could do on all our carpet. I was a little cautious of using it in my carpet cleaner, but decided to give it a go. It was great! My carpets had never looked better. While our neighbors (with the same carpet) had dirty spots even after using their cleaning machines, our carpet was very clean and fresh smelling. Needless to say, they went out and bought some Oxi-Clean right away! But carpets are not the only thing it cleans...
Baby stains. Being a mom I know that some of the worst stains come from babies! When I was expecting my second child, I decided to clean up some of the baby clothes that I planned to use again. These clothes were over two years old and some had been packed up for over a year and a half. The biggest problem? Formula neck! It seems even with a bib the formula gets all around the neck of their outfits. I thought there was no hope. I used Oxi-Clean, and nothing. Had my little bubble of joy been burst? Nope! I mixed the Oxi-Clean into a creamy paste and after soaking the clothes in warm water, I applied the Oxi-Clean to the stains. I let it soak and after soaking overnight, every bit of the stains were gone! TWO year old stains! I washed the clothes after wards and nothing happened to them, no holes, nothing. I have done this with many stains, even ones that soaking in detergent wouldn't get out. Most all of these stains are organic, and as the label says, it works on organic stains. I have had a few non-organic stains come out as well, but not many. I have used it on several fabrics as well, but none were considered *delicate* fabrics. I have been told that it will damage cloth diapers when soaked overnight as well. For me though, I've used it on all my kids clothes (mostly cottons/blends) and never had a problem. It works great on stains, but what about...
Laundry. Well, to tell you the truth, I didn't see any big time difference in my load of laundry. As a stain treatment it's great, but just adding it to the wash I don't think makes a big difference. Ok, so it may not make a big difference in the laundry, but what about on....
Decks. Well, I'm here to tell you that it is a MUST HAVE for anyone who grills on their deck! We had an old tiny grill that every now and then had some grease drip out and onto the deck. We tried to cover it up and hide it and figured there was nothing we could do. Then it came time to sell the house. That nice big flower pot suddenly didn't look so nice sitting in the middle of the deck hiding our grease stain. What now? Oxi-Clean! We soaked the deck with some warm water and used a stiff brush on it. Then, we applied Oxi-Clean in a paste and scrubbed it in. We applied a little bit more and let it soak overnight. The next day, almost all of the grease was gone! We repeated the process and the next day all but a small spot was gone. Given the rest of the wood though, the small spot looked like a knot in the wood. It worked great. I would, however, not use this on a deck that has been stained. When using it to remove some rust stain on our front deck, it started to remove some of the deck stain. Our back deck had not been stained yet. I was really impressed though.
Overall this product has a million uses. The squirt bottle makes for easy mixing and is great for use on small areas. Oxi-Clean is safe to use around your children, pets, and plants. It cleans up mold and mildew really well. It washes off hands best with cold water (the residue is similar to what bleach leaves behind) and, like bleach, it may burn/sting if you have any cuts or scraps on your hands/fingers. I would highly recommend having a bucket around the house at all times. It's a house keeper's best friend!
