Pros: Better made and heavier material than other brands.
Cons: Horizontal stripes !?!
The Bottom Line: At 5 months, horizontal stripes may look cute, but solids are more practical. At 10.00, this is a great wardrobe value.

| sofarsogood's Full Review: Dividends Striped Tee |
I have to admit that JCPenney certainly gives you a lot of quality for the cost of the Dividends line (also called Duo maternity in the catalog), but you really need to look at the patterns to realize that they are still behind the times. The solid colors are really nice.
The Dividends striped tee (and the solid color ones too) is made a medium weight cotton jersey(knit)fabric cut in an a-line. This is what many consider the traditional maternity look. This shirt is long (and cut long enough to hang straight at the hem at full term)and will cover pants with a maternity panel. The fabric is preshrunk, but the tag still recommends tumble dry low or hang to dry. This shirt is available only on-line, in limited quantity in some larger stores, and in the Spring and Summer catalog. While several months of pregnancy may be spent in various seasons, a short sleeve top is extremely versatile. Paired with a cardigan, you have a cool weather outfit. But indoors in a warm room, you have the advantage of being able to cool off a bit. They don't joke about having a bun in the oven for no reason--most women tend to be very warm while they are pregnant.
Choosing the right size sounds awfully easy from the catalog descriptions. JCpenney says "larger size? no way! Your body is changing but your size isn't. Be sure to order your pre-pregnancy size." Unfortunately a small is not always a small and a large isn't always large enough. This shirt comes in XS to 4X. While this shape doesn't hang as well in the early months, the fabric keeps it from looking too large. It is nice to pick the size that fits in the shoulders and hope for the best everywhere else. The first area that you might find getting small is the bust-line. The neckline is very flattering for most shapes.
Pattern is the biggest problem with this top, so I am glad they offer it in solids as well as stripes. Solids are available in coral, white, turquoise, navy, and red. Stripes are available in coral, turquoise, light fawn (tan), and red. The stripes are white and black with the listed color. The stripes (particularly the black) are exceedingly narrow and if you look at the catalog picture of the stripes they really draw the eye.
I will be honest and say that I am only 2 weeks from delivery at this point. I get all excited about getting to wear a new wardrobe at about 3 or 4 months, but like many women I am not going to invest a lot of money in a wardrobe of clothes that I only get to wear for 5 months or so. In the end, my choices are toward clothes that hold up to the wear and tear that I intend to put them through and look good coming out of the wash. JCPenney has certainly suceeded in making a shirt that gives me plenty of wear for my money, but please avoid the striped version. They didn't even use it for the picture here on epinions.
