Pros: Professional styling makes a convenient wardrobe necessity
Cons: Wish they fit up to the end
The Bottom Line: Tailored looking maternity pants are a wonderful addition to most wardrobes, but may not fit through an entire pregnancy.

| sofarsogood's Full Review: Cotton Chino Pants |
Maternity clothes are amazing aren't they? These designers sit around trying to figure out how to cut clothes that will encompass a sensitive tummy near the beginning and a full size basketball near the end while looking neat and being comfortable. These pants go quite a ways.
These pants come in a limited, but functional selection of basic wardrobing colors (chino, navy, khaki, and black). The material is a medium weight cotton twill with a cotton/spandex maternity panel) that hangs well and comes out of the dryer without wrinkles. Beware though, the tummy panel (more on that later) is a shocking off-white--even on the darker colors. A longer shirt is an absolute necessity with these pants.
The design is sort of basic khaki meets maternity. Two darts shape the upper back and there is a back pocket. The flat front expands using a materity panel which is basically a half circle of off-white cotton/spandex with elastic at the top. The base of the U fits around the base of the tummy. The legs hang straight with a bit of taper to the ankle. If you are petite, the petites are about 28 inches in the inseam. The regular length is about 29 1/2. The talls are quite tall, but I don't know the measurement as I have never tried them on. This design can be difficult to wear for some women. If the base of the maternity panel sits to high, these pants can be (or become as you expand) very uncomfortable.
JCPenney tells you that they take the expectation of growth into account for the sizing, but not all that glitters is gold in this case. These pants, when purchased around 4 months will take you to somewhere between 6 and 9 months. Sizes range from 2 (and 4 come in petite only) to 26W. The fact is that the maternity panel is not adjustable at the waist and can be quite uncomfortable as you get larger. The expansion of the tummy does affect the hips and that area can become uncomfortable as well. I am actually near the end of wearing them at 8 months, so I feel like I got quite a bit of value out of them. If you are toward the later part of your pregnancy, stick to looser fitting, stretchier styles.
At $27.00, these maternity pants stack up well against common competitors (Motherhood, Gap), but one brand may fit your body more comfortably. Be prepared with a couple pairs of comfortable knit pants for the last month or so.
