| Melaney's Full Review: Rival 2 qt. Removable Crock-Pot Slow Cooker |
I'm an avid lover of my Rival 2 quart crockpot. I've had it a few years now and find it so useful that, I feel like. "Why cook in the oven anymore?" I can buy crappy cuts of meat that would normally be tough and not so great to eat and look as if I've slaved over a stove all day. The result they come out tender and fall off the bone. All with taste!
The Rival 2 quart crockpot with removable lid also can come with a handy travel bag for keeping meals hot and for on the go. When I bought mine it came with the extra travel bag. It features an insulated metallic pouch that the crockpot fits nicely into and you zip it up and away you go! You can be hours away from your destination and meals remain hot and delicious.
The crockpot itself features a simple swivel button that has low, off and high. Pretty basic and not complicated at all. You can leave your meals in the crock without worrying of burning them.
This is a plus for the beginning cook to the seasoned veteran. Most cooking times vary from 2,4 and 8 hrs. Depends if you set it at low or high and what you are making.
It fits neatly away under the cupboard and isn't extremely large so it doesn't really take up much space, making this a convenient crockpot. The 2 quart size keeps space open in your cupboard.
A see thorough glass tempered lid lets you in on the action as you can watch your meals boiling away slowly as the aroma permeates the house with promises of good meals tonight.
Having this crock makes life easy! You can be a novice cook and just throw in whatever and you are sure to come out with a great meal. All with just a few staples of food.
This crockpot cooks evenly, features a cool touch surface outside and a removable crock which is great for cleanup! Just wash it gently with a non abrasive cleanser and store it away for tomorrow's meal. The crock itself is made of porcelain.
You can make wings and side dishes and its a favorite to those whom just don't have the time to be cooking at home all day. Especially when its hot outside. Who wants to cook anyway?
What if your kids take up most of your time? You want to make sure they are eating well and you want to make sure you spend enough time with them after school or whatever, right? Well....this is for you then.
What if you are a man and can't cook well and you are having the guys over for a football game. You want to have something for friends when they arrive?
Try making some hot wings or spare ribs all with very little effort. Throw the meat in and season with favorite sauces and there ya go. It'll be ready in a couple of hours.
Crockpots in general are great for the budget conscience. I can go shopping ....buy a few staples like potatoes, carrots, celery, a couple cream of chicken and mushroom soups.
Add a few spices and some not so great cuts of meat and turn them into savory meals and leftovers! The best part is that the 2 quart can feed 3-4 people easily.
Most two quart crocks by Rival come with an added basics cookbook to get you started on your way to crock chef cookery. Featuring 120 pages of savory meals and desserts. With adding a separate bread and dessert pan, you can also make some of the finest breads and cakes!
Imagine a small crock that acts like an oven too. So this is why I don't find myself using my oven very much at all. If I can make fried chicken to hot fresh baked bread why should I get my oven all hot while heating up my house too? I even save on electric and AC.
I can't say that I've found any bad points with this product. In fact, I'm hoping I'll get the 6 quart crock with removal lid soon too for Christmas. I find myself enjoying the use of my Rival 2 quart crock so much that I want to make even larger meals and sauces for big gatherings.
So why Rival? I've just found that it performs well and heats evenly. I find it cooks just in the amount of time that it should cook whereas I've had other brands that really didn't heat or cook as evenly.
So lets recap shall we? What are the benefits of using the Rival 2 quart crockpot?
