About Me: God bless America!

From birth to four - it's held up well

  • Durability:
  • Ease of Use:
Pros:easy to handle, comfortable for kids, accommodating features
Cons:basket hard to access, buckles difficult to adjust, canopies detach too easily
The Bottom Line: Despite a couple of difficulties adjusting some of the features, this stroller is a good price and accommodates newborns to preschoolers.

When I was looking for a double stroller, I needed one for an infant and two year old. At that time, this stroller was the best value for the features it had. Now, as those same children are approaching two and four years old, this stroller accommodates our family just as well as it did almost 2 years ago!

The main features of this stroller are:
1. Front and Rear Seats: Padded seats; 3-point seat belts; removable and quilted canopies; footrests
2. Front Seat: removable snack tray and armbar; reclining seat
3. Rear Seat: elevated with removable armbar; fully reclines to accommodate a child from birth on up; can secure compatible Graco infant carseat to armbar
4. Storage Basket
5. Front Swivel Wheels
6. Weight Recommendations: not to exceed 40 lbs. per child

In regards to the use of the stroller in general, my children seem very comfortable in the padded seats and the footrests seem to add to their comfort, even after a one to two hour walk. The 3-point seat belts are durable - even containing a preschooler throwing a tantrum! Yet, the seat belts have remained extremely difficult to loosen or tighten throughout these almost 2 years. Both reclining seats took about a year to wear enough so that I could adjust them without much difficulty (there's a thin, yet sturdy bar behind each seat to lift when adjusting). I found the armbar/snack tray not very useful because it became too difficult to put my children in and out of their seats without catching their feet. Now that my oldest is almost four, he climbs up into the rear seat and the stroller's sturdy enough to not tip over. My almost two-year old is still not old enough to safely get herself into the front seat, though.

When my youngest was a newborn, I purchased a compatible Graco carseat to use specifically with this stroller. This is one of the best features for parents with a newborn because you can snap the carseat into the armbar of the rear seat (baby's face facing toward the person pushing the stroller) and it's very secure. If the baby's sleeping or is outside, you can pull the carseat canopy and stroller canopy forward and it protects baby from the elements and shuts out the light. Another option for an older baby who may want to sit on their own but may also fall asleep during the walk, you can lay the rear seat fully down or recline it a little to help baby sit up. The only downside to the carseat arrangement is that the front seat can't recline if it's in and the child in the front seat will hit his head on the carseat when throwing a tantrum. If the car seat's not in, the front seat reclines enough so that a sleeping child's head will rest against the canopy but the back of the front seat won't lay against the child's feet in the back.

Speaking of canopies, they were very difficult to adjust at first and pop off a little too easily. If I tried to adjust a canopy to quickly, it would pop off entirely. Also, until I got the hang of how to adjust the canopies, one side would move to a different adjustment before the other side did and it would take quite a frustrating while to match the two sides to the same adjustment again. Also, when I pull the canopy for the front seat forward, it sometimes pops back a little while I'm strolling.

When folding the stroller for storage, you have to adjust the canopies before you collapse the stroller. Yet, if you have the canopies off, you only have to pull up on the levers and the stroller will collapse to the ground with much ease - there's even a latch to keep it closed, though I only have to use it if I want to stand the stroller up while it's folded. The stroller is relatively lightweight and not too bulky for what it is. I lift the stroller into the back of my SUV and when I'm ready to use it again, I just drag it out and it collapses itself into position as I pull up on the handlebar to snap it into place. The handlebars are much more comfortable for me, since I have a hard time with some strollers' handlebars being too low (I'm 5'8"). The storage basket is a good size but you have to put things into it from a small space behind the rear seat (or no space if fully reclined) or between the two seats. As a result, it can be difficult to get things in and out of.

This stroller's held up well from outdoor, level hiking trails to the mall. The wheels move easily, and I can even manage to move through tight passageways between clothes racks (though I do need to pick the stroller's back up a bit to move it in the right direction if there's no room to move otherwise). Despite the few cons I've listed, I'd buy this stroller again because it's served us well through having a newborn and even now having an almost 4 year old.
