The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a new computer this would be a good pick.
I have been buying a new computer every two years for some reason. This one I bought because my daughter seemed to claim my old one for her own. This computer I hope will keep me up to date for longer than 2 years. With the 120GB hard drive and the ability to expand the ram, I think I will make it.
First, I have never got a computer brand new, and this one was no exception. I saved $590 buying it remanufactured. warranty is 90 days, but if there is nothing wrong in the first 30 days, odds are there won't be.
Setup was easy, Windows XP is great. Put it on my old one because Windows Mil keep locking up the computer. After getting through all the sign up business I was ready to go.
There seemed to be a lot of preloaded software ready to use. Don't be fooled, they are just trial offers. It took me a while to get them out of the computer. The add and remove feature of windows seemed to miss some parts of these programs and I had to hunt for them.
My one major concern is that HP no longer gives you a recovery disk with the computer. I have only had this problem once, but I had the disks then. I don't know how the recovery feature on the hard drive is going to work if the hard drive crashes. I hope I never have to find out.
