Pros: Bright white light; no glare; fair price.
Cons: Requires 3 AA batteries (heavy); slightly blocks Start/Select buttons.
The Bottom Line: This is the best available lighting solution for the GBA. Don't waste your money on an internal lighting kit.

Other external lighting accessories are unacceptable. They are always too dim (single white LED or lame incandescent bulbs) and produce glare spots.
The only available internal lighting modification kit (TritonLabs Afterburner) is a great idea, but in practice it is difficult to install and the key components (LED light source and plastic etched light guide) are low-quality. The results are washed-out colors and very obvious glare lines along the edges of the screen.
Unlike other internal or external lights, the FloodLight produces a bright, even, soft, wide, pure white light. The flourescent tube can be easily moved into a position which adequately lights the screen without causing a glare spot. The entire unit attaches securely to the GBA and can fold shut over the screen as a scratch protector when not in use. At $15, this light is priced roughly the same as other lights.
There are only two immediate problems with the Floodlight. First, it's powered by 3 AA batteries, which makes it heavy. Second, because of the way it attaches to the GBA, it lays a plastic frame around the GBA screen, the left edge of which runs right alongside the Start and Select buttons, making them difficult to press accurately during the heat of gameplay.
One possible third problem is that the two hinges that allow repositioning of the bulb are made of plastic with a "notched" feeling, and it is quite likely that these notches will wear out with repeated folding/unfolding of the unit. If that were to happen, the unit would no longer be able to hold itself into position as the hinges would become loose.
