Pros:Great deals, excellent pricing, innovative options
Cons:Great variance in service and in phones, poor customer service
The Bottom Line: It's one of the best deals out there, just hope you never have to contact customer service. If you do, stay away from email support!

Sprint has some fantastic options, plans, and pricing. 18 months ago when I first signed up for Sprint I was able to get 180 minutes for $29.99 that included nationwide long distance, no roaming away from home area (so long as it's on Sprint PCS network), and wireless web. It's a great deal at a great price. Sprint has recently also introduced Vision, and is the first wireless carrier to offer this type of plan nationwide.

That said, the service is a little spotty. I sometimes cannot use my phone indoors unless it's an office building. I cannot get a signal in my own apartment, which is a huge disappointment. Outdoors the coverage is great. Sprint service also varies among phones, as my husband's phone usually gets a better signal than mine even though we both have Sprint. I don't experience a lot of dropped calls, but that's probably because when the signal is weak I can't call out.

Their customer service, however, is another story. Their email customer support is terrible. Recently I emailed them asking about Sprint's $100 off PCS phone offer. At first they emailed back saying the offer is only eligible in California. This is clearly not true, as the offer is printed clearly on their website and advertised on local radio stations. When I pointed this out in my response, I included the URL of the offer, and asked again how, as an existing customer, I can qualify for this offer. I was mostly confused by what is meant by "existing customers adding a new line of service".

Their second email confirmed that I am eligible for the offer, and that all I have to do is get a new phone. In the very next paragraph, they said I also have to add a new line of service. Those two statements are contradictory at worst and confusing at best. What's more is that this canned response is the verbatim statement on their website, which I sent them a URL to! How ridiculous! First they gave me a wrong answer, then their response was directly quoted from the page of the URL that I sent!!!

I finally gave up and called Sprint. Although I waited on hold for a while the representative was able to answer my question. The gist is that as an existing customer, I basically have to add a new phone number to my account. That is what is meant by "new line of service". It is very simple, actually. Too bad I wasted a week trying to get their email customer support representatives to provide a real answer!

Their email support center clearly does not read email questions clearly and is only able to provide canned responses.
