When I lived in New York City, I signed up for Sprintpcs cellular phone service. What attracted me to them in the beginning was that I was able to contract service with them for a cash deposit, which gains interest and would be returned to me. I was also able to change my particular plan at will, although I would have to give them a year on the new plan. It seemed alright to me as I wasn't planning on leaving town then. The first phone that I purchased was a base model. I experienced alot of dropped calls and loss of digital service. I decided to buy another, albeit, more expensive cell phone. The phone that I bought was much better. The reception was clearer, and I hardly experienced a dropped call. I was able to use the phone at work, where there could have been much interference from all the direct current flowing through the machinery. I was quite pleased with the overall performance. About two months before I moved to another city, I began to experience dropped calls, and poorer performance in my home area. The biggest problem with Sprintpcs is the quality of customer service. It is horrible. Here is an example: I had been out of New York this past May and called into their automated system to check my minutes used and balance. I authorized payment over the phone to my checking account in order to pay for the month's service. The next evening, I called again to find out if payment had in fact gone through. My balance had in fact doubled, so I called customer service. Once I navigated through this horrible system, I found out that I did not have a balance but a credit. I asked for a prompt refund. After a month, I think I received it. I moved to another state and used that money in conjunction with the move. I found out that in July, I was still owed a sum of money. After many, many calls and attempts to get the refund I still have not been mailed a check. I now live in Missoula, Mt. Sprint does not have any service here, so keeping money in an account that has been terminated does no one any good except for Sprint. Customer service told me the check is in the mail. Now I find that it is not. It's now Sept 9th, 2002.Everytime I call customer service, I hear a different song and dance, and lies. As a last resort, I emailed the director of public relations with my story. I also let him know that I would write a review on these pages. I also explained that WNBC'S Asa Aarons had mentioned that he received plenty of complaints about this very topic. Five minutes later I received an email letting me know that a check would be forthcoming and he was sorry for the inconvenience. The sad fact is, a customer has to inform a huge corporation such as Sprint that a valued customer has to resort to these measures. What would Sprint do if a customer did not pay his or her bill on time? I only say this, if you are happy using sprint pcs service and are satisfied, continue to enjoy using them, but be wary in dealing with the company as a whole when you are the one who has been wronged.
