Good extra controller for little ones.

Written: Jan 30 '01 (Updated Jan 30 '01)
Pros:Cheaper than the other controllers out there.
Cons:Too big, hollow feeling, buttons stick, triggers are mushy, and the analog stick stinks.
The Bottom Line: I really would only buy these if you got them cheap, and you don't plan on using them yourself.

I will start this opinion by stating that I can only recommend this controller for those that need an extra third and fourth controller, or for those that have little ones that like to play.

I never really liked any of the standard third party controllers that were ever released for any of the consoles that I have owned. I always compared them to what SEGA, SONY, or NINTENDO put out for their respective systems.

The only reason that I picked up two of these is because I found them clearanced at my local discount super store. I have a few 4 player games for the Dreamcast, and only 2 SEGA controllers. I thought that they might come in handy for when I actually sit down and play with more than just one person, which is almost never.

In testing them, I found these controllers to be extremely sub-par in comparison to the SEGA brand. They are way too big, the buttons stick, the triggers are mushy, and the analog stick is not responsive at all, this is a major feature in almost every game.

I found myself not wanting to bring these things out when my friends came over, for fear we would all end up fighting over the good controllers. I did however find a useful feature for the controllers. I have a 3 year old daughter and I have 4 younger brother-in-laws, that range from 5-12 years old. I found these controllers to be perfect for when the boys come over to play. I give the 2 SEGA ones to the older 2, and the 2 Astropads to the younger 2, (they are really hard on them). My daughter also likes to "play" with her red one.
