Pros: High Quality Display, Dual Battery support
Cons: Small display, average speakers, could have used more RAM - locks sometimes
The Bottom Line: Pricey, has some nice bells and whistles, but in the end it would be fine for about $1000 less.

This was supposed to be the best laptop money could buy... well, a lot of my money went into it, but I don't think I can agree with that sentiment.
Value for Price: 7/10
The overall value for the price of this system is not the best. It comes with 128 megs of RAM, which is good, but if I spend $4000 on a machine, I want 256 mb. The display panel is just adaquate... it does give you a brilliant display, but it's only 12.1 in. better take out your reading glasses... again, for that price why not 14.1?
Display panel: 8/10
I can't knock the quality of the display, as it is brilliant, but why oh why could it not have been 14.1? I mean that's only 2 in bigger, but it would mean so much in terms of quality, and I have come to expect high quality from Sony.
Sound: 6(8 w/quality speakers attached)/10
I was fairly disappointed with the sound of the integrated sound. It sometimes struck me as tinny, and muffled, other times it seemed to sound fine. Again, it was just below what I expected from Sony, which in this case would be crystal clear audio. If you attach quality speakers to the system it does a bit better, but loses some portability.
Battery Life: 10/10
I was very impressed with the dual battery support of this machine. It made it so recharging isn't daily thing like it is on many other laptops. I can actually go quite a while w/o recharging... impressive, Sony really nailed this feature!
Reliability: 7/10
My system runs Windows 2000, which is inherently more stable than Win 9x, so I noticed crashes less frequently. The sad part is, even with 128 mb of RAM, and Win 2000 it still locked up more often than I would like, probably about 3 times a week average, and that is not good.
Overall: 7/10
Pricey could describe this, and so could the word sleek. Yes, the shell of this system is really cool looking. I just wish the guts could be the same... it just seems it should be more for the $4000 I forked over for it.
