Not If This Was The Last Toy Bar On Earth

Pros:cute, keeps baby occupied...
Cons:hard plastic, virtually useless, not worth it!
The Bottom Line: Not worth the money!

When Monster was a baby, my mom bought him the Baby Looney Tunes Musical Toy Bar. I'll admit that it's cute- but after only a few short months of use, I had to get rid of it. It's just not worth the money.

Bugs, Honey, And Tweety
I'm a Looney Tunes fan- specifically, anything and everything Taz- so of course I was charmed by this toy. It attaches to the handle of an infant carrier/car seat using velcro straps. The charactors hang down from a purple plastic bar, and when they move, they set off music lights. Monster loved it! At least he did until we picked his carrier up and moved it for the first time. Bugs kept hitting him in the head- ouch! So, off came the bar anytime we moved it. Then I noticed that it was virtually useless in the car because everytime we stopped- Bugs would swing forward and hit Monster in the head. Okay, this wasn't working out...

I decided to remove the toy bar from the carrier, and to only use it when we were at home or out anyplace that he had to sit in his carrier. It did come in handy while waiting in the waiting room at the doctor's office, or when I was taking a shower while he sat in the carrier on the floor of the bathroom.

When we stopped taking the carrier seat out of the car, I put the toy bar in Monster's toy box. I figured that he could pull it out and play with it. Hey, Honey Bunny is holding mirror, and Tweety comes with rings that are kind of fun to play with. Shortly after doing this, I was cleaning Monster's room. I found Honey Bunny and her mirror sitting next to the toy box- and the rest of the toy bar across the room. It broke, and it freaks me out now to think of what could have happened. A small piece could have broken off and Monster could have swallowed it or choked on it.

Safety Issues
I don't mean to say that this isn't a safe toy to play with. What I'm saying is that our carrier has a funky handle that didn't allow for the toy to swing much, and the toy itself isn't meant to be played with once baby gets old enough to sit up.

There's so little that can be done with this toy- especially since you're supposed to use the carrier car seat with the handle flipped back, and not in the up and locked ready to carry position. So you can't use it to keep baby occupied in the car. You can't let an older infant play with it- they could break it. You can't attach it to the carrier and carry it- it might not be tight enough and could hit baby over and over again. Doesn't sound like much fun for Mom and Dad does it?

If you're looking for a toy bar of some sort, look for something padded to hang from the bar. Avoid this- it's not worth the money, no matter how cute it is.
