Paper Handling:
Pros:Fantastic photo prints, and very quiet.
Cons:Costly paper and ink, and not much paper to choose from by Epson
The Bottom Line: Excellent print quality, would recommend this printer to photo enthusiasts.
Strengths
Quiet operation, quick output, high quality resolution prints that beat conventional prints hands down everytime.
Weaknesses
Reported Orange fading problem causes concern over reported and advertised longevity. Non standard ink catriges that are specific to the model(the 1270 and 870 are essentially the same printer differing only in size, however, they use different color ink cartriges). Finally, high resolution prints at 1440 dpi drink the ink.
CustomerService
Lacking. Technical and customer service is terrible. To this day there online technical support never answered my questions. If you already spent your cash on this printer you'll have to pull some of Epson's teeth to get a refund.
Summary
The Epson 1270 prints are vivid. No one can believe that they are inkjet prints. The premium glossy paper images look just like Ciba Chromes. The printer is very quiet and surprisingly quick. Although the orange fading reporting has been widespread, I have yet to experience this problem. I love this printer and would highly recommend it.
Final Thoughts
Overall the quality of prints are better than previous models, but the lack of support for Premium papers other than Glossy is quite annoying. The color shifting problem mentioned earlier was due to the paper and not the printer...it has been corrected.
