I know what you mean... (Reply to this comment)

we went here on arrival to Orlando a few years ago. What a dump! We couldn't do it. I gave up the first night's rent (around $40, yes one of those "specials") and drove over to the Radisson and gladly paid the $79 per night there never to have to set foot on the HoJo's property again.
As the great Homer Simpson would say "...let us never speak of this day again..."
Good and accurate review.

You should send a link to this review to the HoJo marketing folks---maybe it would open their eyes as to why the chain has been going downhill for many years.

Thank you all for your comments. We were over at Disney the last few days. Passed this hotel again. From the outside it looks good, but drive to the back, and it is a different world.

Sounds like Howard Johnsons was playing cat and mouse with them...bad customer service.
Thanks for warning us about this place! Hope they have a better stay next time.

Memories vs. Reality...... (Reply to this comment)

Fond childhood memories of mocha mint chip ice cream are about all the respect I have left for Howard Johnson. Most of their hotels these days are a disgrace. Sorry your relatives had to put up with this one. I think I might have actually stayed at this one in 1973 with my family....Don't remember much about it now, though. Tom Barnes

We stayed here once (Reply to this comment)

only overnight before we checked into where we were really staying in Orlando.
What a dive. The kids were running wild and rowdy by the pool. The room smelled musty. However, it was only one night and I think we paid $35.
If you ever have to check out reviews of offsite hotels, here's a good site: http://www.mouseplanet.com/dtp/offsite/

Howard Johnson in Niagara Falls. They didn't take advantage of us there. I will be sure to stay away from this one. Besides, I stay at my resort (Celebration World Resort) whenever I go to Orlando.
Thanks for the warning! Hopefully the other Howard Johnson hotel in Niagara won't start doing that!
