I just want to say that Alltel sucks. I signed up with them in December 2001 and little did I realize the kind of problems I would have with them later. In June I was faced with a lot of dropped calls and voice mails I did not receive. They also hit me with a high bill as well and claimed I went over my minutes. When I called to complain about the bill and tell them about all my dropped calls and missing voicemails they sent me from customer service person to customer service person, each one of them telling me they would only give me $12 off my bill and the rest of the bill stands. I asked for a supervisor several times until I finally got to one who finally corrected my bill (I pay $36.73 per month and keep track of all my minutes to make sure I don't go over them). The supervisor then instructed me to go into one of the Alltel Stores and have the software on my phone upgraded as that may be the problem. I then took my phone in and had them update the software. For a few weeks my phone worked a bit better. Then the problem with the dropped calls and not receiving my voicemails resurfaced. I then got my bill for August and once again I was hit with a high bill totalling $164.70.
When I contacted Alltel to dispute the charges I was ignored or given the old runaround. I finally wrote to the Better Business Bureau and told them about the problem and Alltel still has not contacted me to resolve the issue. I sent in my normal monthly amount of $36.73 and even wrote that I dispute the rest of the bill hoping Alltel would wake up and contact me. I still received no return call or letter.
Today I received another bill stating I now owe $343.89. I was furious so I called Alltel and their customer service people basically were less than helpful or refused to put me through to a supervisor. I even had one service person hang up on me and another who said that if I left my name and number the supervisor would call me in a couple of hours. No supervisor has called me despite the customer service person saying that they were good about returning calls.
I am pretty upset right now as it seems Alltel makes a practice of ignoring their customer when they have complaints or handing them bills which are never correct. Talking to customer service does no good as all they seem to know how to do is make their customers even more upset. Has anyone else here had this experience with Alltel? I know when my contract with Alltel is up I may be going shopping for a new carrier. They're terrible!
