| mrbeck's Full Review: Dazzle DVD Creation Station 200 |
When I bought the Dazzle DVD Creation Station I had high hopes for converting my analog VHS tapes into digital DVD media. This package promised the ease of conversion and boasted "your friends won't know it didn't come from Hollywood!"
Guess again.
Besides the fact that you have to run an update from the Dazzle website to even make the software close to effective, you then find out that the packaged DVD Complete software has bold mistakes in it that Dazzle acknowledges, yet still shipped!
For example: You cannot capture video from the DVD Complete software, all though there is a clickable option to do so. When attempting, you get a terrible crash message, and the program shuts down.
The website instructs you to use the Hollywood 5 software that came with the device. This is fine and dandy, but you'll notice when trying to capture video, you get wavy lines whenever the camera pans or zooms. And if you want to click around different options in the software, forget it. If you click more than 2 steps while editing your video piece, the program crashes.
This is a USB 1.1 device, and with a 950 Mhz system with a gig of ram, plus a USB 2.0 interface, there is no reason why this device, had it been designed properly, should not have worked flawlessly.
I am extremely disappointed in my purchase, and I will be making arrangements to exchange this unit immediately.
