Opinion Summary
After Years, a Second's Abandon Under THE WEIGHT OF WATER.
by macresarf1 | Sep 25 '02
Pros: First rate screenplay, direction, cast, photography and editing.
Cons: Evidently some critics and audiences don't appreciate Director Bigelow's vision. Several unresolved ambiguities.

Dear vonboob: You seem to recognize that I am being cautious about THE WEIGHT OF WATER. After all, I saw it once, a year and a half ago. There must have been something wrong with the film, for them to hold it up for over for about three years. Maybe my memory is full of watery chimeric excellences. Possibly, they have "fixed" it, so it is no longer the film I saw.

Those are grounds for approaching THE WEIGHT OF WATER with caution.

All I can tell you is that I the heat of the subdued contemporary situation and the plight of the immigrants stayed in my mind for that long period of time.

As I write, take a chance on it.

With regards and appreciation.

Well, gungian, I indicate you would be taking a chance on it. You might not see some of the things I saw in it.

Anyway, you have a month or so to think about THE WEIGHT OF WATER before it goes into release.

Thank you, as always, for your encouragement.

Made it sound very interesting; I'll be watching out for it. You put a bar of expectation high though, my friend: I'm too easily disappointed. On the other hand, much worse thing than disappointment is to miss something really good...

Best regards,
