Los Angeles is a very big city. To get to any certain place could take as long as 50 minutes with traffic. Being a patient person, I often order things that I don't need right away on the internet. This includes hobby supplies for my r/c car.
About 8 months ago, I started looking around the internet for a gas powered remote control car. After searching numberous websites, I came upon Tower Hobbies. I immediatly knew that this was the place that I would end up buying my car from because of their extremely extensive selection and very low prices. After searching through more than 100 availible r/c cars, I settled on one and Tower let me put together a combo including various needed items for a discounted price.
It was a Sunday when I placed the order, and on Monday afternoon, I recieved an e-mail informing me that my package had been shipped. The email included a summary of what I had ordered, and a UPS tracking number, which I used to track my package over the 3 day period it took to get to my home. The package arrived on time and with everything in it. The invoice had circles around all of the items, and checks next to most of them. This showed me that the people that work at the Tower warehouse take special care to make sure that all of the things that are ordered are included in the package.
Product information:
One of the best parts about shopping at Tower Hobbies is the product information of each product sold there. If you click on any item, there will be a report written up by Tower on all the information you would ever possibly need about the product. This information includes: What it is and what it is used for, items included, items required, technical comments, and applicable measurements.
Selection:
Tower carries almost every major brand of Hobby equipment on the market. They carry everything from complete kits down to the smallest screw in each and every one of their carried kits. If you are a fan of r/c cars, you will know that a lot of stuff breaks while driving. Tower has never failed to have what breaks in stock, and ready to be shipped.
Parts Express:
Tower Hobbies has a special program known as Parts Express. If you only need replacement parts or other small items, you can save $5 off the regular shipping charge. No matter how many parts you buy, as long as they are all "Parts Express eligible" you will only pay $3 shipping, whether you buy 1 small screw, or 100 different replacement parts. This option has come in handy when I have crashed my car and broken certain parts.
Prices:
Although Tower has some of the lowest prices on the net for most products, they can be beat. As always when shopping online, look around; if you see a lower price, grab it at the other store. It isn't often that I see something for a lower price elsewhere, but it has happened before, so be on the lookout.
Savings Codes:
Another great feature of Tower is their Savings codes. During the checkout process, you can type in a certain code to save a certain ammount of money. For example, there is a code for $10 off a $150+ order. They aren't all listed at tower, so you'll have to look around the net, but if you look carefully, you can find savings codes like $10 off a $25 order (40% savings!).
Shipping:
As mentioned above, the merchandise is shipped in a timely fasion and arrives quickly. There are many options availible for shipping, including ground, 2-day, overnight, and many more options. As soon as your product is shipped, you will get an email giving you the tracking number and a summary of your order.
I hope this helps you in your journey to buy hobby supplies, if you have any questions email me (BConly@aol.com) or post a comment here and I'll try to update this with an answer. Thanks!
