Pros:Sale Price, amount of rooms this one cools, doesn't cost alot to run.
Cons:The flimsy window shutters on the side.
The Bottom Line: This is good product for cooling large rooms, 2-4small rooms, without running up the electric bill!

I get a call one day from my wife, who was pregnant and sounding very uncomfortable and frustrated,in the terrible heat wave Milwaukee that was bestowed upon us during July 1998.

So I ask the boss to let me off work early to find her an air conditioner. I had her check out the past Sunday's newspaper ads for A/C's. She checked out Circuit City, Best Buy, Kmart, Walmart. Then she ran across this Kenmore Room A/C Model number : 70122 at Sears.

Which is what we needed since at the time we rented a small apartment with the living room and bedroom connected. There was another bedroom off the very small dining room. But all these rooms stayed nice and cool once the air kicked in.

That was about 450 square feet.

Then we came across the question of whether or not this air conditioner will be able to cool our new home.
Which is a lot larger with about 980 square feet. Although we no longer had a dining room, we did have to install it in my wife's room. Because our living room window were not large enough to hold the air conditioner.

But with it in full force for the first hour, it does an excellent job at cooling off a living room about 450 square feet along with a small hallway of about 75 sq. feet, then it does also have to cool the bedroom off first at about 365 sq. feet.

I is not loud at all. You can hear the motor running, but that's when its night and everything in my house is turned off.

The electric bill with it running for days on end with out a break. Although once it is cool in the house, I do turn it back down to almost the lowest setting. And it continually keeps the room at practically the same temperature.

But even so my highest bill for it in a month, along with 3 TV's my computer of course. And all the basic appliances for the entire month was only 53.00.

Which even my family and friends think is unbeliveable since I always have something running.

But it doesnt hurt the pocketbook at all. It is a good investment on a piece of equipment that is sure to last along time.

The basic cleaning should be done on the plastic filter that filters the air. It is very easy to clean. The instructions describe how to do this. But this product should have a yearly checkup. Have a pro do this. It costs about $35 and its worth it.

This is a very nice and clean looking appliance with an off white color.

10,000 BTU.

Although I like the fact that there are extendable side shutters, they don't shut very well. This is the only con to this.
They are quite difficult to keep close. I had to fix this since it would let in hot air.

I just had to buy some cheap foam from the hardware store. Cut it down to fit the seam of the shutter and the window pane. Well it worked.

The controls are very easy to read and operate.
The one is to control the fan speed. And the cool, cold, and colder. haha.

Very nice piece and for a great price.
