Best phone for people who drop theirs constantly
Written: Oct 09 '02
I've had the i90 for about 9 months. Overall my experience with Nextel has been hugely positive. The carrier has/had a reputation for spotty coverage and lousy customer service -- so it was with extreme hesitation that I bought into the Nextel service. Now 2 more phones later this is my main carrier.
Here is what I like about this phone:
1. It is rock solid sturdy
2. Ability to browse the Internet and get email for a fixed small flat rate from Nextel (as opposed to other carriers who often charge per mb or make you use up your wireless minutes)
3. Direct connect- ability to use the device as a two-way-radio to talk with other Nextel subscribers
Here is what I don't like:
1. Would like to be able to turn the phone on vibrate without opening the cover (Nextel indicates you can do this with a software upgrade -- so newer models may have this available).
2. You can assign shortcuts to many (but not ALL) of the menu functions in the phone. I'd like it a lot more if I could shortcut any of the menu choices.
Overall I recommend this phone for anyone on Nextel who needs a sturdy and dependable phone.
I traded up to this from a Nextel i85 primarily because I wanted a flip phone so that the keys wouldn't constantly be pushed as I bumped into counters and other obstacles as the phone was hanging from my belt.
