Tall, dark and hot! Very, very hot!
Thats how my husband would describe how he likes his coffee. A very tall mug with just a few drops of milk and very, very hot! (Me? Im a light and sweet kinda person.)
Unfortunately, recently, thats not how our coffee pot made the coffee. Rich had his tall mug and added his few drops of milk (honestly with the little he uses, I often ask, why bother!) but after taking his first sip, declared, This coffee pot has got to go!
Since I use a bit more milk, I didnt realize the coffee pot lost its oomph! No longer was the coffee coming out steaming hot. Although, not quite cool, it just wasnt not enough. I wondered how long the problem existed and Rich said, For a while now. Im surprised you never noticed. I thought of all the people we entertained that politely suffered through tepid coffee and decided then and there to make a trip to Wal-Mart as fast as the speed limit would allow.
Not knowing what the heck I wanted, I checked several before I finally made up my mind. I chose the GE Classic 12-cup Coffeemaker.
This coffeemaker has several intriguing features. First of all, theres a control dial atop of the of swing-out grind holder. This dial will actually control how your coffee brews, anywhere from the weakest strength to the strongest. The dial controls the flow of water into the coffee grounds the slower it flows, the stronger the coffee. It might take you a few pots to decide which setting you like, but the time spent is worth the effort.
This coffeemaker will make the coffee the way YOU like it, not the way the manufacturer likes it!
Whatever setting you choose, the GE Classic brews the entire pot in about 10 minutes. Not bad when youre in a hurry.
If you should be having a caffeine attack and feel like you just cant wait 10 minutes, take heart, my friends. This great coffeemaker has an auto pause and serve control. As soon as you remove the pot from the machine, the flow of coffee stops dripping from the holder. However, keep this in mind . . . . just because the coffee isnt dripping from the ground holder, it doesnt mean the water flow into the holder has stopped. Should you pour your cup and forget to replace the decanter, you will have a mess of coffee all over your counter.
One thing I especially like about this pot is the handle. It has a sure grip handle that absolutely will not slide from your hand. Its a wide handle, coated with a non-slide, attractive-looking rubber that ensures a firm grip. It also stays cool to the touch.
The decanter has large white numbers on it to indicate just how much water youre using to fill the pot. There is absolutely no guesswork in making a delicious pot of coffee.
As for cleanup, I found this pot a snap to clean. The decanter is dishwasher safe (naturally the machine isn't). The coffee ground holder detaches to clean and yes, that also goes in the dishwasher.
The coffeemaker comes in white and black, but I chose the black to match the other accents in my kitchen. This is a sharp looking coffee pot that I wish I bought years ago (but years ago, it wasnt available).
As with other items, Wal-Mart prices couldnt be beat. I found this marvelous machine for about $30.00.
