Selena, (co-titled 'They Died Too Young') by Veda Boyd Jones, is an excellent biographical book for young Selena fans. I bought the book because I am a Selena collector.
The book has a table of contents which includes 'The Queen of Tejano', 'Music in Her Soul', 'On the Road', 'Life Changes', 'Fashion Designs', 'Black Friday', 'Selena's Legacy', 'Chronology/Major Albums' and 'Index'.
Within its 48 pages, this book contains 10 color photos, including a rare picture of Selena mingling with Jon Secada at a party. Although the pictures where wonderful, I had hoped that there would be more than 10.
The book takes a quick view into el mundo de Selena (Selena's world). From traveling on the road with the family band, to the making of the Selena Motion Picture, all within 48 pages.
I did notice small inaccuracies. For example, in the Chronology, it states that Selena got her high school diploma in 1990, when in fact, Selena graduated in 1989. But as we know, no book is ever completely accurate.
I think that this book is a wonderful choice for children ages 8-12 who want to learn more about The Queen of Tejano music, Selena.
