| mountainhigh's Full Review: Kenmore Drop-In Electric Ranges |
If you are looking for a drop-in range that gives your kitchen the built-in look, your search has ended with the Kenmore Electric Drop-In Range. In our former home, we owned the Kenmores Electric Drop-In Range. I have always loved the look of drop-in ranges over the slide-in ranges, due to the drop-ins have a crisp, flush-mount, and eye-appealing look over the appearance of a bulky slide-in range that seems like it could leave at a moments notice!
Kenmores Ranges have always been very dependable in our experience and cooking with them has always been even a pleasure.
Features and My Thoughts
Kenmore's drop-in ranges offers two different cooking tops. One is with coil burners and the other is with radiant elements. Ours had coil burners. Radiant burners require perfectly flat cookware for even cooking.
There are two large burners offering 2600 watts and two small burners offering 1500 watts.
The control knobs for the cooking elements are removable for easy cleaning and offer infinite heat controls.
The drip bowls are made of chrome and are removable for easy cleaning.
The cook top is porcelain enamel and I used window cleaner to maintain its appearance.
The oven is self-cleaning rather than the continuous cleaning. I have never liked "continuous cleaning" ovens due to their rough sides that you find hard to wipe and they really never cleaned well enough for me. The self-cleaning feature does an excellent job and only needs a wipe when completed.
There are 4 oven rack positions with 2 oven racks. I cleaned the oven racks with a scouring pad.
The oven has electronic touch controls with an electronic digital display clock, a clock timer and an oven light.
Difference Between Slide-In and Drop-In Ranges
Slide-In Ranges are easier to install if a previous slide-in range was already in place. Slide-In Ranges generally offer a broiler storage drawer, whereas a drop-in range needs some type of woodwork/molding/trim across the bottom and a tad along the sides where your broiler storage drawer would have been.
Drop-In Ranges generally are as close to flush-mount with your cabinetry as possible, whereas, slide-in ranges generally extend out a few inches from your cabinetry. Normally, the cook top extends to the edge of your counter top and the oven (mainly the oven door) extends a tad beyond the cabinetry.
Why a Kenmore Over Other Brands?
From our experience, Kenmore products are built to last and Sears has always been good with their customer service on their products.
Whirlpool normally makes the majority of Kenmore's ranges and our experience with Whirlpool products has also been pleasurable. Kenmore's ranges are generally less expensive than Whirlpool's unless you find a great sale for a Whirlpool.
Choice of Colors
Kenmore offers the Drop-In Ranges with the following choices of colors: white-on-white, black-on-black, and bisque-on-bisque.
Final Impressions
Baking and roasting produced excellent results and the temperature in the oven was accurate.
Every part of the range is easy to clean and maintain.
I think you would be very happy with the Kenmore Electric Drop-In Range for years of reliability while producing great cooking results.
The warranty is 1-year parts and labor.
Thank you for reading my review, and I hope you have found it helpful in your purchasing decision process.
