Big Disappointment (Reply to this comment)
by tripper10
I own a Kenmore Profile Electric Range made by GE. I have been pleased with it for almost 3 years. However, I am now disappointed that it needs a new control board which will cost $311.00, installed. I have been told these frequently go out due to an electric storm. We have not had a storm of any kind, and if I replace this part, it may go out again with the next storm or for many other reasons. I paid $900 for this range and am disappointed it did not last longer. It is now landfill.

mayguy,

I appreciate you trying to advise the advisor, however, the category is "Kenmore Electric Drop-In Ranges" meaning more than a choice of one and is not model number specific.

Please look at the "product details" and "compare prices" and you will see that this is offered in both "coil" and "radiant" elements.

Hope this helps you to understand. :) - Kathy

While the picture does show "radiant" elements, the "product details" and "compare prices" shows both "coil" and "radiant" choices for the cook tops.

This one is not "model number specific" like the other models are.

Hope this helps you. :) - Kathy

I cruised through the listings (thank heavens for DSL) and there are, indeed, a couple of Kenmore drop-ins with coil burners. mayguy's probably right.

On the whole, I'd rather have gas. We're going with gas (and a propane convertor) next time: two consecutive JennAirs have completely soured us on electric ranges.

Let us know if you move.

Glass or Coil? (Reply to this comment)

This is a smooth top, and you rated your as a coil top, so you maybe want to move/write it under the coil top model :-)
