This review should be deleted.

The Carmax website is not designed to compete with Edmunds.com or to give you multiple car buying resources, it is a dealership website. And, it is the best dealership website I have used. I love the ability to sort by mileage, transmission, etc., and expand the search from the local store, to the local area, to even a nation-wide search.

This is a very helpful, well-organized, easy to use website. It could stand a couple of improvements, but it certainly does not deserve a top reviewer giving it the shaft for failing to be something it was never meant to be.

If you cannot delete this review, at least move it to the bottom.

Considering that the purpose of carmax.com is to help one find a car from a Carmax location, this review is inappropriate. The website allows one to search locally as well as nationally for a vehicle using specific criteria, and will even send the user an e-mail if a vehicle of their specifications arrives in inventory. Having actually purchased a car from Carmax, I know that the website's content is accurate and up-to-date, at least for my particular location.

The reviewer's score of 1 our of 5 is very misleading. As the site is only a vehicle (no pun intended) for supporting the physical dealer locations, and the reviewer had never visited a physical location, it's easy to see how the reviewer went so far from the mark here. It's difficult to review a product when one isn't actually aware of the product's purpose.

Bryan:

You look like a smart guy, but your review and follow-up comments about the carmax.com website are among the most idiotic I have ever read anywhere. Based on your logic, you should criticize Sears.com for not having a way to buy houses online. Just as Sears is not in the real estate business, CarMax is not in the auto research and referral business. CarMax is an auto retailer that uses a website to help merchandise the items it does sell. Hello!!.

And your comment is even more ignorant as well as being incredibly stupid. You must not have noticed, but this is a review of the Carmax web site, NOT the Carmax dealerships or the business itself. Epinions doesn't offer a place to review the actual dealerships.

Your review has to be one of the most ignorant I have ever read. Had you done your research, you would have noticed that Carmax is a dealer, not an automotive research website. Dealers don't say, "Well, this one is nice, but if you go across the street you'll find a better car for a lower price."

If you are one of epinions.com's "Top Reviewers", I fear for what the lower tier of reviewers say.

Bottom line: This review is by far the worst I have ever seen on this site, and the reviewer is extremely ignorant. Almost seems as if he just gave his "epinion" on something he didn't know about just so he could keep his "top reviewer" status. Pathetic.

I actually work at a Carmax for what our website is, a corporate-owned resource for searching OUR inventory, it is top-notch. I have dozens of customers each month that tell me it is one of the most helpful tools out there.

I agree with you. The reviewer must not have grasped the true concept of the website. When you go to Sears.com, do they show you prices for tools from Home Depot? Of course not! This is a website for CARMAX.com. There is no need for them to show competitor's prices or inventory. While it does not let you search completely on your needs, you can search by used/new, type of car (suv, etc), price range, location, or specific make/model of the car. I find the website very helpful because you can see what the inventory is before you head to the lot. Your review is unfair to the company because you did not fully understand their intent.

First of all. It is a DEALER WEBSITE. Of course they will not show you their competitors! It seems like you are comparing it with cars.com, or something like that. They also buy cars themselves, is just understandable they won't have a service so you can post your own vehicle.

For a dealer it does a great work giving all the information upfront instead of playing the game.If you go to that website you go as a buyer not for vehicle research or information.
And finally they will contact you PER YOUR REQUEST. If you are looking for something specific you can open the link of inventory alert, you can be able to be reach promptly with specific question. So I would suggest to read the type of website, and take a deeper look.
