Pros: Fast (depends on program), relatively light for a desktop replacement, swappable drive module
Cons: flimsy display, gets too hot, noisy fan, cover rattles when closed, space key too low
The Bottom Line: It's an okay deal but ONLY if the system is heavily discounted and, of course, if you don't get a lemon and have to deal with Dell support.

...but with a friendly smile (like if that really matters).
If you're lucky and get a trouble-free system on the first crack, it's an okay deal, but only because of the price. If you don't get a good one, get ready for the exchange and repair merry-go-round. In my case, it was a subpar display (inaccurate colors) for the first one and a bum video card (an annoying thin horizontal line on the display)for the second. Dell wanted to service the second machine but the turnaround would be too close to the 30-day total refund date. I eventually convinced them to exchange the system again (turnaround also close to the cutoff date, surprise, surprise...)At the end, however, I managed to get an additional discount (credit) and a free DVD-ROM drive, but it took persistent calling and haggling to get it. I left out the other glitches, like one USB port, no FireWire, etc. since it's been covered by the other reviewers. Overall, I'm only marginally satisfied with this laptop and I would definitely NOT buy another Dell laptop at any price.
