The Pitfalls of Pretentiousness
by rich2003dm | Feb 01 '01
Easy to get caught up in the numbers and comments. Can easily become addictive and go to your head (unless you're blessed with a family like mine).

the only access to a computer is have is one of the few in my University campus that actually works. People queue for hours to get on one, and fail to keep their temper in check when I inform them that I am making sterling observations on the pitfalls of Josh Hartnett, that I fear many of my peers have yet to realise.

Outsiders must not be allowed to dowse the flame of epinions passion.

It only seems like the world (um, the family) is against us. At least your daughter gives you money and complements...

They say we suffer for our art.

They are right.

LOL, this was one of the funniest essays I've read here, mostly because it's true. ;) I'm currently spending way too much time on Epinions, caught between reading reviews for the sake of reading them, and reading them for the sake of rating them... I think the first choice is the better one, don't you? :)

as I read this charming, brilliant and laugh out loud funny review.

Your wife, the anti-muse? Brother, I feel your pain. I am married to a man who, when I read him my convention bashing, state smashing, more mocking reviews, (in which, if I do say so myself, I stick it to the man *but good*) replies: "That's cute, Honey".

Whatever we are up to now, ten is it? That's me.

Number 10

PS Thanks alot for making me cry. Sheesh.

Rich-

While I must admit I am jealous of your greatness (and marvelously biting humor), I'm not sure I could survive the rigors of the supreme discipline and suffering you adhere to for the sake of appeasing your legions of fans. (Which, if your comment section is tracking accurately, is up to nine now that I count myself among them!)....Mark

I was pulled in by the enthusiastic, new "Write Your OWN Comment On This Review" link epinions made. Fine work, sir. I always enjoy your stuff. Those kids of yours had better listen, and do more housework to free you up. Does your wife know the power of the written word on females? She better let you have your way! It is pretty hard to make me laugh, but you always do.

thanks,

Earth: A Big Round Thingie Filled With Impediments to Epinion Writing (Reply to this comment)
by Sordid-1
I followed a link here from the user page of Sloucho (who has proven to be a man of impeccable taste) and am so relieved to see that there is someone other than I who takes the sheer POWER of an epinion seriously.

Today, peace in the Middle East... tomorrow, an effective repellant for telemarketers. (Start small, think big.)

And your loyal readership swells to EIGHT.

I'm really tickled to have found this. It's just the sort of breath of fresh air that might help me to get over my disappointment in the new epinions. Beautifully, hilariously, impeccably done!

You see - THIS is why you owed it to 'your readers' to come up with 5 Superpowers you'd like. You're hilarious (but you know that)...

I think a lot of people are going to think this is hilarious becuase a lot of people are going to be able to relate.

Looks like I'll have to put up another link on me page (once I figure out how) the masses have TO KNOW! Your readers need to know the pain and anguish you suffer in the name of your art.

thanks for the laughs
