We made arrangements to stay at the Ramada Inn Westgate in the Orlando area. They said they would give us the night FREE if we agreed to take a tour of the Celebration World Resort. During this tour, resorts try to make you buy a timeshare by showing you special offers and trying to dazzle you with big plans and quality rooms. On our tour for the Celebration World Resort in the town Celebration in the Orlando area, we WERE dazzled by the great deals the resort offered us and ended up buying a timeshare for one week per year.
On the tour we werent actually able to tour the resort because it had not been built yet. Luckily, we were still able to be offered many deals and offers. We met at this Chinese plaza that the resort rented out for the month to sell timeshares. We were offered a luscious lunch of Chinese chicken, spaghetti, and other dishes. We werent allowed to have refills so we would have to sneak up to the drink machine while none of the staff members were looking. Sorry but we were thirsty! They didnt enforce the rule that much because there were small pieces of cardboard saying that refills were not allowed. If they wanted to enforce the rule, then they should have made it engraved into the wall or have a plastic sign saying so; a piece of cardboard doesnt show much quality.
After the lunch we went into a large room filled with many people, chairs, and tables. Here they offered us many things. One of these things were refreshments which did not make too much sense because we had just eaten. There we had a Spanish agent which told us some info we should know about the resort.
- It is an RCI Resort.
- It has not been built yet but construction is on (this was back a few years ago).
- We can trade resorts whenever we want to but are always guaranteed a week open for us during the week that we choose. Trading resorts means that you can stay at another RCI resort for a week in place of staying at the Celebration World Resort.
She showed us what each room looked like. She had pictures of images of what the rooms were to look like, and had drawings of the overview of the room. She also gave us a choice of buying the one bedroom resort, two bedroom resort, or even the three bedroom resort! We ended up buying the three bedroom resort for a week every year. We scheduled our week to be in July where we are reserved a room no matter what. We are allowed to go any week we want but we are only guaranteed a room during the week we reserved. Therefore we can go in April if we wish but a room is not guaranteed for us. Of course when we book the room nobody else can take it, but in July if we still dont book the room, the room will remain open during the week even if someone else wants to stay in it! This shows that we have a type of ownership of a room during one week.
We pay about $2,000 a year to hold on to our timeshare in Orlando and pay about $1,00 to hold on to our timeshare in Ft Lauderdale.
Our Experience - (2001)
It was about 11:45pm and we pulled into the resort after our miserable TWA flight. We were all pooped out and about to fall flat on our face as we entered the office to check-in. The agent was very friendly and gave me two keys for our room.
As we drove to our building, we saw beautiful palm trees surrounding the parking lot. We parked in a spot between two cars and came out into the humid night of Florida. As we took the luggage out of the car, we saw several teenagers with towels wrapped around them as they went to the pool. Wow! It is quite weird to see young people going to the pool at midnight. Actually, it isnt really weird because you can see that they just want to make the most out of their vacations.
After we finally found our room (after searching for about 15 minutes) after going up the elevator, we entered a room that amazed us!
Rooms -
We rented the two bedroom night for a week which left us with a one bedroom week sometime till the end of the year. My wife and I took the master bedroom and two of my older cousins who came with us took the other bedroom.
Kitchen -
The kitchen had many cabinets and a refrigerator with a freezer on top. There wasnt any food in the refrigerator or freezer so we had to go shopping. The kitchen also had silverware, cups, plates, and bowls. There was a marble counter-top and the cabinets were made of wood. There was also a sink with two sides which came with soap. There was also a dishwasher for the days where you dont feel like doing the dishes. Dont forget about the microwave and oven! It is an all-appliance kitchen!
Main Room -
The main room starts in front of the counter-top. There is a glass table with a centerpiece of fruit. This table is had six chairs with cloth coating.
There is also an open-up coach facing an armoire with a big-screen television. The armoire is made of wood and has several drawers at the bottom to store clothes or whatever you may desire.
Next to the couch is a balcony with a chair and table.
Near the entrance is the washer and drier for laundry use. The hotel room has laundry materials such as bleach which you do not have to buy. It comes with the hotel room.
Twin Bedroom -
The twin bedroom has a smaller television set on top of a dresser. The dresser is made of wood and has six drawers in a 3x2 pattern. There are two twin beds and a window. There is also a closet and chair.
Main Bathroom -
This bathroom includes a bath, sink (DUH!) and soap. There is also shampoo in the bath tub. There is a lot of counter space to stow your hair spray, combs, brushes, etc. In other words: toiletries.
Master Bedroom -
The master bedroom has a big screen television in a wooden armoire. There is also a queen sized bed and a large window. To hang up your clothes there is a walk-in closet.
Master Bedroom Restroom -
Connected to the master bedroom is the master bathroom. It has an arch in the entrance way. There are two sinks with a mirror in front, and a jacuzzi bath in the background. There is also a shower with a transparent door. This doesnt make me feel that comfortable because I dont want someone to walk in and see me naked! There is also a small room with a toilet. The counter-top of the sink and the floor is made of real marble.
Pool -
So far there is one pool but construction is still on. The pool is a little bit larger than other pools and is about five feet deep. There is also a kiddy-pool and a hot-tub. There isnt a lifeguard but there is staff supervision from 8:00am to 10:00pm. The pool is open for 24 hours a day but supervision isnt always available.
Around the pool are tanning beds and chairs. There are also tables and some have umbrellas to protect you from the sun. There are towels which you can borrow for free. Some hotels charge to rent towels.
Refreshment Center -
Next to the pool is the refreshment center where there are snacks and drinks. It is indoors and it has many chairs and tables. It is also used for employees who are trying to sell timeshares to consumers.
For The Future -
Construction continues as you read. They are still building more resort rooms and also are adding these amenities:
- more pools
- ponds
- boating
- fishing
- bicycle rental
- horse back riding
- game room/ arcade
Overall -
I am glad that I bought the timeshare at Celebration World Resort. There are just about no problems, and the problems that there are is very minor. It is a great place to make hotel reservations for.
