| mexican72's Full Review: Samsung Yepp YP-30S MP3 Player |
We got YP-30SH as gift. It has 128 meg memory and supports secure digital technology. It's very easy to carry around. It's tiny, very light-weight, 1 AAA battery lasts quite a long time. Sound is nice for the entry level ear-plug head phones. Voice recording function is good. These are all pros.
Cons:
Software is extremely stupid. My version can not handle group of files. You can use shift button to select bunch of files, when you hit, say, delete button only one file is deleted. You can not copy music from player to PC "due to copyright restriction". How do they know that music on my player is copyrighted? Again, you can not manipulate groups of files in the player memory. It's easier to format flash RAM than to delete 15 files out 20. Copying files to player is surprisingly slow even for USB 1.0. File manager has a lot fetaures that you have to activate, such as CD ripping and mp3 encoding. You can get similar software of an excellent quality on the Net for free. I'm now looking for the 3rd party file manager, may be it'll help.
Headphones cord is too short. You can not put the player in the pants pocket unless you are 4 feet tall.
You can not use external memory cards. It takes about 10 minutes to copy 128 Mbs from PC to the player.
To summarize: I'd never buy this player. I haven't returned it back to the store only because it's a gift from a friend.
