I've got a couple of better books than this; maybe I'll review one or the other next week.

Glad your neighbor (and you) have a good sense of humor. Just hope he doesn't tunnel into your basement some weekend... :)

Definitely not the book for you, Mr. G! I grew up in a house that was perpetually under construction, so I probably had a real hammer and nails as a toy instead of that wooden mallet & peg thingie. I often found myself thinking back to the lessons learned at my late father's knee, which made this a lot easier.

I'll see if I can find one up your alley -- Building Sheds for the Black-Thumbed Carpenter, maybe?

Cheers - and Keep on Writing!

Listen to the man! (Reply to this comment)

I spent three days last year building mine, and I used pre-fab stuff!

I kept tripping in the hole when we were fiddlin' with the foundation. My nextdoor neighbor, who tackled the project with me (we worked on adjacent identical sheds)came here from Vietnam in '75. He finally looked at me and said, "I am not laying traps for you. We stopped that years ago."

(groan)

A book would have helped. Knowing what we were doing would have shaved a day from our labors. And my door is still crooked.

Excellent review, Rex, on something that folks wanting to tackle the product should buy!

. . . certainly be at a loss.

I cannot even nail two sticks together and come up with anything that even resembles either a "cross" or an "X".

:-)

Nice posting.

Hey, Catriona - long time, no see!

It's not that tough if you're already familiar with reading blueprints and have a good feeling for how the construction process works. I kind of did this project as a test to see whether I could tackle a task as large as building my own house; a dream project in the not-too-distant future. I was pretty disillusioned with the plans I got from this vendor, though - but that's a lesson in itself!

Thanks for stopping by - good to hear from you again!

full now...
