I am not sure where or how in my online shopping experiences I came across Boscov's.com. It was probably my usual pattern of doing a Google search for that special something, online at the best price. No matter how I came upon it a few years ago, I have been a devoted online shopper ever since.
About Boscov's.com-
Originally started with a smattering of stores in Reading PA. Boscov's has expanded to stores throughout the Northeast. The merchandise seems to be typical department store fare comparable to other regional department stores I've found across the country such as Dillard's or The Bon Marche.
Price and Selection-
The main page trumpets current specials *(currently free shipping on orders of $50.00 or more), and the various departments they offer.

In these departments you'll find a wide range of products from famous merchants like Tommy Hilfiger, Liz Claiborne, Champion, Reebok, Whirlpool, Sony (authorized dealer), and Waterford to name just a few. The prices are reasonable to good depending on the frequent sales they offer. *Be sure to sign up for e-mail alerts so you'll know when specials pop up.
Finding merchandise shouldn't be a problem. The navigation is quick, easy and the search function returns valid results. The selection is made via "tab-style" selections from the main page, and narrowed down with sub-categories until you've found what you want. Product details are comprehensive, and include photos, sizes, price and the like. A nifty feature Boscov's has is that it has links to delivery options, return policy and the shopping guarantee right there with each item. No searching all over to try and see what shipping will cost, handy!
Payment, Shipping, Delivery-
Now, the important little details. So you've filled your cart, honestly no problem there, so now what? Checkout is unremarkable, but not difficult.
Payment Options-
Make your payment with Visa, Mastercard, Discover, AMEX, Boscov's own department store card, or Boscov's gift cards. *The website offers a credit center and sells gift cards as well.
Delivery-
Hold on to your hats, because Boscov's delivery method and price are what really keep me coming back. Fixed delivery charges of $8.95 for standard UPS delivery is the norm. The fine print states that home items (meaning furniture) will carry extra charges and delivery to Alaska and Hawaii may be difficult. They promise to contact you prior to assessing extra charges. So if you just want one item, the shipping may be steep, but I assure you stocking up and filling that virtual cart won't be hard, and it's only $8.95!
Shipping & Delivery-
As I mentioned earlier UPS is the shipping method used. I have always had prompt, speedy delivery in under the expected 7-10 day window.
Confirmation-
Ah, my pet peeve, order confirmations. Boscov's gets an A for keeping me in the loop on my order, it's progress and when I'm getting it! Upon completion of your order, immediate e-mail confirmation is sent. Upon charging my credit card e-mail is sent, and upon UPS pick-up, you guessed it, e-mail confirmation is sent with the all important tracking order number. A recent order in late October was received in just 5 days! Always securely wrapped and well packaged, I have never had a complaint with Boscov's merchandise.
Return Policy-
In the event you do need to make an exchange or return, do be aware that you'll need to do it within 60 days. Also be aware that if you don't have a local Boscov's you'll need to return via UPS at your expense.
All In All-
I couldn't be more thrilled with shopping at Boscov's. I don't know how they're able to offer such low prices, but I know I like it! Delivery is fast, efficient, and the detailed order confirmation process makes me feel that they actually care about each order. A novelty to some internet merchants, Boscov's delivers. With the holidays approaching, do check them out for your gift giving needs.
