When I decided to upgrade my printer I decided to check out the reviews in all the photo magazines (after all that is what I wanted it for and that is what it is made for). Anyway, a resounding 'Canon BJC8200' was the printer they were all raving about. So that is what I bought, and I don't regret it for one second.
It's true to say that the costs of photographic paper and inks for the Canon are expensive but that is also true of any other photo quality printer. Anyone, other than a professional, looking at my prints have not been able to tell that they were done on an inkjet.
The drivers were easy to install and I had the whole thing up and running in no time, I have never had any communication problems with it (unlike my other printer) and it's pretty quiet too.
Printing of text is not particularly wonderful, as it is after all a dedicated PHOTO printer, and that's why I have a second printer.
The separate ink tanks are an inspiration, saving a lot of money from wasted inks. However, they are very expensive and don't hold a great deal.
To sum up, I would say that the quality of the prints that this printer produces are worth a little extra in running costs.
