Pros: CleanCleanClean clothes, high spin speed, automatic water level
Cons: "Travels" a bit when spinning sometimes
The Bottom Line: You can't go wrong here...large capacity, spins faster than a front loader. Not cheap, but worth every penny. Cuts way down on drying time.

I love this washer!!
I recently spent a year with a brand new Maytag Neptune washer and dryer and was completely unhappy and dissatisfied. I divorced them, picked up the pieces, and now I'm happily cohabitating with a Fisher & Paykel Ecosmart.
I have actually noticed that clothes get cleaner with this washer. I have a white kitchen hand towel made out of terry cloth that wasn't too old, but had gotten pretty dingy in the middle area of the towel. It had been washed several times in the "ex" machine. I honestly wasn't looking for things to be cleaner with this machine. I have always been pretty skeptical about any hype that claims one machine can really get things noticeably cleaner than another. But when I folded this particular towel, I really couldn't believe it. Grime that had been there through several previous washings and dryings was nearly imperceptible.
Another thing I love about this machine is the high spin speed. This machine spins up to 1000 RPM at top speed. This is even faster than the "ex" which had a top speed (I believe) of 850 RPM. You can really feel the difference! It has definitely cut down the drying time and I have yet to experience any problems with wrinkling. And you can choose among three different speeds.
The automatic water level is another big plus for me. I usually do only full loads of laundry, but every now and then I do a small load, and don't want to waste water. On my old (pre Maytag) machine, I would often forget to reset the water level knob after doing a small load. So the next full load would not get washed properly. No worries with this machine... The auto water level feature seems to work perfectly (and, yes, I have checked--several times). You can also manually select among five different water levels if you so choose. You can even tweak the fill level selected by the auto water level by changing the pre-set options. So you can increase or decrease the fill level that Auto selects if you are dissatisfied with the level the machine selects.
There are so many settings on this machine that I will probably never use them all. There are 5 preprogrammed wash cycles: Permanent Press, Wool Washables, Delicate, Regular, and Heavy Duty. But even though each one comes with predetermined settings, you can easily tweak any of the options to suit your particular load of laundry. You can even tweak them so that they remember your customized options every time. There is also a sixth cycle called "Favorite" that is simply there for you to make up and save your own favorite wash cycle.
This machine even has RINSE options. You can use the standard "shower" rinse, or choose the more traditional "deep" rinse.
The only (both very minor for me) drawbacks so far are that I have noticed that washer has "traveled" a little bit sometimes after spinning. (I'm talking maybe about an inch.) And it is possible, I suppose, that this could be corrected with leveling. The other thing is that there are a lot of plastic parts (including the washer lid). However the lid does lift off easily for cleaning.
In summary, I could not be happier with this purchase. If you want clean clothes, reduced drying times, automatic water level, and an almost infinite number of customization choices for wash and rinse cycles, then consider this machine.
