Pros: Multifunctions, Built-in mic, incl. software, easy setup
Cons: 8MB Ram cannot be upgraded, Mic only works when camera used as standalone video recorder
The Bottom Line: Get em' while they last. There is a newer version (PC-Cam 600), but it costs more than twice the price of what you can purchase this camera.

I've looked around for low-cost multifunction web cameras and I fill that I found the best for the money. For approx. $60.00 US (Staples.com) this camera acts as:
1) A web cam
2) A portable digital camera
2) A portable camcoder (3 minutes w/sound)
3) A security camera (time lapse or motion detection)
4) A tape recorder
Compared to other cameras of this class, the PC-Cam seems a far better bargain. I bought another camera, which was supposed to have better picture quality than the 300 and I returned it a few days later to purchase a second PC-Cam 300. I have recommended it to two of my friend, both who are very happy with their purchases.
Now for a practical analysis. As far as the quality is concerned, it is very good, but if you're looking for great pictures, look elsewhere (buy a purely digital camera). For the consumer who wishes to get "good" pictures as well as a means to video conference on the internet however, this camera should definitely be considered.
As for its capabilities the camera can do the following:
1) 128 high quality pictures/ 255 low quality
2) Panoramic pictures
3) Timer pictures
4) Video w/sound up to three minutes
5) Tape record up to 34 minutes of sound
6) Web camera (you will need a separate mic when connected to the PC)
7) Can take very high quality digital pictures when connected to the PC 1024 X 768
The camera also comes with several software packages that are both fun and useful, which can be used to edit your pictures, create web streaming sites and even monitor your home or apartment.
The only short-comings that I noticed with this camera is the fact that you cannot increase the built-in memory size and the built-in microphone only works when the camera is disconnected from the computer.
