| dakota7's Full Review: IBM Thinkpad A30 P IIIM 1GHz / 30GB / 128MB / W2K ... |
I replaced an aging IMB 600E with a new IMB A30. What a difference! I looked at many laptops, Sony VAIO, Toshiba, Dell, etc. But what kept bringing me back to IBM was #1 past performance and reputation (read no maintenance issues) #2 the finger pointer! I hate touch pads.
I am NOT a computer geek (I save that title for my hubby) although I can get around quite nicely on my machine and figure out how to correct many software issues. This is a very user-friendly machine.
I upgraded to 256SDRAM, an Ultrabay CD-RW combo, it came standard with CD/DVD-R drive. There is more than enough storage capacity for me with 30GB HD. The 15" screen is truly a marvel to work with, and so far I have had not one iota of issues with my machine. (Mine basically functions as a desktop 98% time.)
This review is for the layman, sorry I am not familiar with all the technical reasons you should buy an IBM, but as a consumer, this machine rates #1 with me for use and reliability.
