I recently purchased this software for my First Grader. He does not have the world's longest attention span, but loves learning from this program.
It is centered on scooter races. As the learner, you get to earn pieces to make a neat scooter. You can also use these pieces to make tricks on 8 different Scooter Racetracks.
The variety of activities is very nice. It teaches reading, fractions, math, money, the world around us, sequencing, and many other often overlooked 1st grade skills.
The activities themselves are fun, but can be a bit boringly repetitive. Luckily, my son likes to do the same thing over and over and over...
The program also gives the child options on every activity for learning difficulty and speed. It will even adjust them automatically if the child is lagging behind. This gives every child the opportunity to feel like they really achieving and learning.
While I do not think it will enthrall every child (especially girls who aren't into scooters...), it is a good program to give 1st graders a little boost in the learning and self esteem departments.
I would recommend it.
