I'm English. This review refers to priceline.co.uk. I hope that it is not seen as out of place! Anyway - here we go!

Hi Mark! Or should that be "high mark"?

I accept your points. Entirely. However, I got a cheap flight. I got very courteous responses by e-mail and telephone. I can only speak from my own experience; it's been pretty good, I have to say! Hence the positive review. You've added a balanced reply, for which I thank you! Any comment is better than no comment!

All the best!

Hey Andy

Glad to hear your first Priceline experience went well -- congrats, and enjoy the anniversary party! (60 years with one person... my goodness!)

I disagree highly with anyone rating Priceline higher than about 2-3 stars, but that's *MY* opinion, and I sure do respect your right to your own view.

I think a LOT of cons should be noted with Priceline though.

To successfully use Priceline, you need to be EXTREMELY flexible in timing (they use a lot of 10pm departures out of alternative airports), and you need to be willing to accept positively HORRIBLE customer support, and be willing to duke it out with your credit card company when Priceline screws up (note, I don't say IF, I say WHEN).

Aside from abyssmal service, Priceline does not always save you money. You can almost always do just as well on your own, WITHOUT giving up control over flights by simply shopping around aggressively.

When using Priceline, remember, shop prices FIRST, shave off a healthy discount, and use that as your starting point when entering a Priceline bid -- and most important, NEVER, EVER increase a bid or you've just defeated the whole purpose...which is to save money.

Just 2 cents from The World's Cheapest Traveler (TM).

Buen viaje,
Mark
