This beautiful non-lead crystal stemware, made in Germany, raises the art of wine.
Purchased in a box set of eight. 9 1/2 inches tall, 4 1/4 inch stem, 12 inch circumference bowl, 9 1/2 inch circumference mouth, 4 1/2 inch diameter base and 24 oz. capacity to overflowing. The crystal is so thin it will slip by your lips like butter. It is weighty enough to rest gently in your hand as you hold your red and read a book by the window. I have made this crystal sing as I have glided my finger around its rim.
It is a simple design. The stem appears to be made of four vertically running plain glass rods melted together. At the top of the stem, between the bowl, are three graduated round disks, mirror images of that at the base of the stem.
I still can't believe I purchased several sets, red and white, at a Costco for $60.00 a set. I use these glasses regularly and over the past 2 years have not chipped or lost one yet. I have on several occasions toppled one or another over only to see them lightly bounce without a chip. They are extremely tough. The size of the mouth is just right to capture the essence of the wine and transfer the bouquet to the nose. I refer to my glasses as "My Riedels." These glasses are proudly used in my home for all red wines, from Cabernet to Bordeaux.
