Pros: Eye-popping images that can stop a conversation dead in it's tracks!
Cons: The 2200 is in short supply- and 7 inks aren't cheap!
The Bottom Line: The Epson 2200 is to other "photo-printers" what a 60" Plasma-Screen HDTV is to your grandma's 19" Zenith.

| STLambert's Full Review: Epson Stylus Photo 2200 Inkjet Printer |
Let me get to the conlusion first: WOWZA!
I've been around photography for 35 years at a semi-professional level. I've done the whole darkroom thing as early as the 1960's. I've worked with custom color print labs and I've owned 3 other "photo printers" but NOTHING in my experience prepared me for the eye-popping color prints or the soul-satisfying black-and-white prints that the Epson 2200 seems to produce so effortlessly!
Everything you've read about the 2200 is true: it's easy, it's reliable and it produces photo-prints that will make people's jaws drop- literally!
I'm forever showing photos to friends and families and they nod and mumble, "yeah, very nice."
The combination of my new Nikon Coolpix 5700 (see my review elsewhere) and the new Epson 2200 stops people cold in their tracks. I'll hand them a print on Epson's archival matte paper and they stop in mid-sentence.... staring. Absolutley NO ONE can believe that the photo was taken digitally- and then printed at my computer.
I haven't even tried the rollpaper adapter yet, nor half the other capabilities, but unless your print-size requirements exceed 13" X 19" you will NOT be disappointed with this printer.
The Matte black ink combined with the "light" black ink produce breath-taking black and white photos that you'd swear came out of a top-quality darkroom.
And the color, resolution, saturation, brightness- amazing!
This printer isn't easy to find at the moment... but get on a waiting list somewhere. Get on SEVERAL waiting lists. You won't be disappointed.
