Pros:Modular CPx line, TV out, price quality tradeoff
Cons:shoddy keyboard, buttons break
The Bottom Line: If you want a machine that will coexist with the corporate standard this is it. This is a workhorse!
Having worked with Dells at my previous employer, I was happy when I found that a Dell Latitude was one of the supported configurations at business school. I tote this sucker around with me everyday and it keeps working.
This model came with a 600Mhz pentium III and 128 MB RAM running Windows 2000. (W2K is incredibly stable!!!! I never have to reboot.)
Everything else is pretty much standard. The keyboard on the laptop has a great feel, but there have been extensive problems with the connection to the motherboard. The I and K and M keys often stop working, but a couple firm raps on the bottom of the case reinstates them to working status.
Another nice feature is the fact that the laptop has dual pointing devices: touchpad and the eraser head. The screen is bright and fairly large.
Other people who have this laptop have experienced the upper mouse buttons popping off. This happens if you use the eraserhead for a pointer other than the touchpad.
Overall this is a good computer. It's provides a decent value and is a workhorse. There are now better machines out there.
