| KMINER's Full Review: Orange Clean Tough Acting Degreaser Multi-Purpose ... |
I am my family's reigning queen of trying out cleaning products. Friends and family laugh that I am obsessed about how my house smells. I wipe off everything, and have all sorts of sprays handy.
Anyone who buys cleaning products regularly knows that they can get pricey, especially just to try something. That's where my local Sunday paper and coupons come in handy - that, combined with great prices at my local Walmart, and I can often try new cleaning products for $1.00 or less!
Gotta Spray
I spray everywhere, but especially in my kitchen. We have a tiny one, and my husband thankfully does a lot of the cooking. However that means that I am left to do a lot of the cleaning. And while I don't mind (having picked up the habit from my obsessive dad), my husband has a knack for leaving stuff everywhere behind him when cooking - there are egg bits, flour, butter, grease stains, you name it. Even more stressing to me is we often use both counters and the flattop stove to prepare many of our meals, due again to the limited space. These are the same areas I get food and snacks ready for my beloved little toddler, prepare my breakfast, etc. I have visions of "chicken goo" and "bits of stuff" getting on my son's cup, my coffee mug, you name it.
So I gotta spray. I spray after everything. I actually have my spray permanently ready to go in a "designed area" behind my stove! For a while I have used Pinesol spray - Pinesol being a company I grew up with, and a scent my husband approves of. Then I picked up some 409 spray - worked as well but no nice scent to enjoy. So when I got a coupon for a product called Orange Clean Tough Acting Degreaser Multi-Purpose Cleaner I went to the website to see what kind of product it is.
From the Orange Clean Website (about the product line in general - http://www.greatcleaners.com/web/default.asp):
"Tiles and Carpets...? Just like new. Kitchens and bathrooms? Smelling fresh. Windows? Crystal clear. Even the garage is free of grease. At Orange Glo International we dream of, and create great cleaners that give you real power, and real results all around your home!
Unlike others, our cleaning products work with pure ingredients such as orange oil, a natural solvent, or simple oxygen, which unlocks and removes stains. They are powerful, healthy products that will transform your home."
That's right - from the makers of Orange Glo - the stuff I had seen on tv. Wanting to try something like this anyway, and loving any opportunity to try a new to me scent I scouted my local Walmart and picked up a bottle.
The Look
Thankfully this product and the bottle it comes in is comparable to any other spray bottle I have purchased. Since it is bright orange I did find that it "stood out" on the shelf. It comes in a 22 ounce bottle with mainly orange and purple markings. The bottle allows you to see in and know how much product is left. The spray handle and trigger is sturdy and the nozzle is square with options for OFF, SPRAY, and STREAM (I always use SPRAY).
What This Product Proposes To Do
"Combines pure orange oil with other power-packed degreasing agents for fast, easy clean-ups. Keep a bottle handy anywhere grime lurks.
* Dissolves grease, grime, and soap scum fast
* Removes heel marks from most hard surfaces
* Fills your home with the scent of fresh oranges " (more detailed info on uses, suggestions, precautions, etc can be found at http://www.greatcleaners.com/web/department.asp?did=14&pid=235)
My Use
I did use this is the kitchen and in my small downstairs bathroom (complete with sink and toilet). I always knew immediately when myself or someone used the Orange Clean Tough Acting Degreaser Multi-Purpose Cleaner - the pleasant smell of oranges stayed in my home and in that room for a few hours afterward. My surfaces always looked shiny and clean - I especially like how it cleaned my flattop stove. It really did lift off dirt and grim well, and never left and residue or chalky stains that I had to then go over. This product always worked just as designed and I never had any problems with it performing. I used the entire bottle until the very end and enjoyed very much the addition of a more natural product and scent into my home.
I Have Not Yet Repuchased Though - Why?
I really enjoyed how my Orange Clean Tough Acting Degreaser Multi-Purpose Cleaner worked and more so how it smelled in my home. I would probably buy this product again if on sale or I had a coupon again - but most likely for my bathrooms (which, as luck would have it, I have 3). The reason why is that this product does not have an antibacterial statment on it. I know people have differing beliefs at times on whether this is important - my stance is, at this time, it is vital for use in my kitchen. We often use cutting boards and etc to cut raw chicken, and as mentioned my husband is not at all neat about doing so. Therefore the probability of getting raw food on my counters is pretty high. I just don't feel safe cleaning my counters with any product but an antibacterial agent - I literally cringe if I feel like I have to cook or make food items on an area that hasn't been cleaned of all potential bacteria well.
Therefore, I do not recommend the Orange Clean Tough Acting Degreaser Multi-Purpose Cleaner as the primary cleaner in kitchens, though I have really enjoyed its performance and use in my bathrooms. Though I will probably buy again, I will be more mindful of where I use it.
You can purchase Orange Clean Tough Acting Degreaser Multi-Purpose Cleaner at many larger stores like Walmart and Target, and you can also order on-line through the links that I provided.
