Price reflects a $50 rebate.
This box works very well in the living room for, for example, playing music from a PC over the family stereo.
It plays nicely with my DVD player. I think that, coupled with an inexpensive set of 5.1 amplified speakers this would make a pretty good low-end home theater receiver.
It is sold as a sound card. I think it is actually weakest as a sound card. The software suite is not especially good (for example, I will continue to use WinAmp and LAME). The stereo sound quality is not noticeably better than the built-in Crystal WDM chipset in my T23.
